We are a research group in the Department of Chemistry at Emory University. Our goals are to understand bonding and reactivity of molecular transition metal complexes and to apply this understanding to the development of new chemical transformations. Specific questions that we explore are: (1) How can we control the synthesis of complexes with very weak metal–ligand bonds for use in catalysis? (2) How can we effectively use light to drive chemical reactions? (3) How can we replace expensive heavy-metal homogeneous catalysts with earth-abundant metals?  Research in our group spans the traditional sub-disciplines of organic, organometallic, and inorganic chemistry.
